In this unique album Rufus Wainwright recreates song-for-song Judy Garland's live album from Carnegie Hall, featuring “Zing”. It is a live recording of his June 14th, 2006 concert at the Big Apple.
The double-disc includes 27 live tracks for all Rufus fans around the world. The favorite singles in the set include "When You're Smiling," "That's Entertainment" and, "Over the Rainbow”.
Born in 1973 to Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, both folk music luminaries, Rufus Wainwright is an incomparable artist of soaring ambition and an operatic voice to match. He sees himself “ as the true heir to Verdi,” perhaps with some true justification. In Fall of 1998 he relocated to Los Angeles recorded his first studio album.
An openly gay artist, Wainwright surprised his fans by discussing the advantages of staying closeted in an interview he gave to the Spin magazine. One of his gay icons is of course Morrissey.
